Health and wellbeing

Funding level: £1,001 to £5,000

To provide Football for All.
We are a not for profit sports club catering for children from age 4 upwards. We do not turn players away because they can't pay or on their ability levels. However funding is always hard and providing the correct people to run teams and finance this is an issue. We have attracted over 360 players of all ages and all backgrounds and handle at least a dozen enquiries each week.
Our club is based in Holbrooks, Coventry and is recognized as an area of social deprivation. With have large families who are struggling to afford to pay the subs we need to keep functioning to provide a service. All of our coaches and committee are volunteers.
The money we are seeking is to provide coach education for young players and volunteers who are looking to take their first steps into football coaching or refereeing as well as provide essential equipment to be able to provide these activities - items such as goal posts and nets, first aid equipment, defibrillator etc.
We know from previous experience (our club has been going for over 10 years now) that we are able to provide local kids with a focus for their energies as well as fostering a sense of community and ownership for their local park where the matches are played.
Our major aim is to support at least 8 male or female 16-20 year olds through a minimum FA Level 1 coaching course as well as 10 adults. They will need to commit to volunteer at the club for at least 3 years to ensure that the succession will continue.
We know that this is an age where confidence starts to wain and that they need life skills to help them get jobs or to stand out from the crowd a bit. These age groups also act as role models and mentors to younger players within the club.
