Skills for life

Funding level: Up to £1,000

Ombersley Endowed First School is a small single form entry school in a Worcestershire village with around 120 pupils aged 4-9 and an onsite nursery.

The Friends of Ombersley First School supports the activities of the school by raising funds for additional equipment and activities which cannot be funded by the school budget. We also provide social opportunities for both adults and children. The Friends organise a number of events throughout the year such as Christmas and Summer Fairs, quiz nights and Easter Egg hunts to help to enrich the children’s school experience.
One of the areas for which the Friends have been asked to fundraise this year is to continue to update the digital technology in the school through the purchase of new digital screens and IPads to replace outdated computing equipment. The school wants to ensure that the children develop their computing knowledge and are fully equipped with digital skills, in line with the new curriculum requirements. In order to do this in the best possible way they need up-to-date equipment.

The project would benefit all of the children at the school and the equipment would be used across the curriculum as well as to develop their computing skills.

With limited funding it is difficult for the school to fund everything from its own budget, but through the Friends the school tries to provide the children with an enriching curriculum. Receiving funding from the Community Fund would greatly assist in being able to purchase the much needed equipment as soon as possible.

Moment of Pride

We are very proud of the school, its dedicated and hardworking teaching staff and the children at the centre of it. The school is small and friendly with a strong sense of community, nurturing the children to become confident, independent learners. It provides a supportive, happy environment.
