Skills for life

Funding level: Up to £1,000

Ruthvenfield Primary School is a small rural school located outside of Perth City with around 60 pupils in attendance. The School is celebrating it’s 150th anniversary with pupils learning about the history of education at Ruthvenfield and throughout Scotland. The Parent Council at the school work closely with the staff and parents to support the pupils wellbeing and education.

The school staff and pupils have approached the Parent Council to seek assistance with providing new digital technology for the school during the schools 150th year as their current items are now vastly outdated.

The parent council are looking to provide a number of new IPad devices running Microsoft applications. The aspiration is to eventually have 9 devices, allowing for a ratio of 1 to 3 when being used by any one class at any time. So far we have managed to provide 3 devices but still have 6 more to go.

The funding bid we would like to apply for is for a total of £990. The Parent Council will continue to participate in further fundraising throughout 2018 and 2019 to support the local environment, health, wellbeing and skills for life for all Ruthvenfield Primary School pupils during their 150th year celebrations and beyond.

This funding would benefit all of the pupils currently at the school and new entrants over the coming years. Our current role is between 60 and 70.

The School would also be able to start up its award winning Digital Animation Club (please see attached CEOP video) which has not been in operation for 4 years. This has been due to the limitation of the schools current equipment and thus not being able to produce top quality short films and animations.

With the substantial progress being made with technology we need to ensure that our young learners have the confidence and ability to use technology so they are prepared for the transition into secondary school and indeed when they progress to university and the work environment.
