Health and wellbeing

Funding level: £1,001 to £5,000

The project aims to build a traversing wall in the school playground at Scantabout Primary School in Chandler’s Ford, Hampshire. Traversing walls are known to help children to develop their balance, confidence, co-ordination, problem solving skills, teamwork, trust and strength. It will encourage the children to be more physically active and will be a unique feature for the school playground. In addition to the 220+ pupils in the school, the out of school and holiday clubs that use the school grounds will also benefit. The project will leave a long-lasting legacy for the whole school community.

Scantabout School Association (SSA) is the parent teacher association (PTA) for Scantabout Primary School. It is run by hard working and dedicated parents and teachers from the school who's aim is to advance the education of the pupils. In particular by developing effective relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school and by engaging in activities or providing facilities or equipment which support the school and advance the education of the pupils.

The SSA organise and run a variety of events during the school year to raise money for the school and to help build the school community. They are hoping to raise money to transform other parts of the playground in the near future to create a truly inspirational space that the children and school community can be proud of now and in the future.
