Health and wellbeing

Funding level: £5,001 to £10,000

Our small branch is a self-financing branch committed to providing animal welfare in Northamptonshire. We are affiliated to the National RSPCA, but responsible for raising our own funds locally. All money raised by us through fundraising, collections, events & in shops is spent on Northamptonshire animals.
Each year our branch is rescuing and rehoming more and more animals within the county, with 2017 seeing over 700 in their forever homes. This year we are even busier but we need help to continue feeding and rehabilitating our animals!

We have two projects for which we would very much like assistance with by way of funding. Our funds for food campaign is trying to raise £10,000 to feed all of our animals for a whole year. These funds would greatly help to pay for our of our biggest expenses.
Also, we desperately need to acquire a new van which is used as our Animal Ambulance & welfare van. This van can be used for collecting emergency rescues, transportation to the vet and to our centre for rehabilitation, transport for dogs to our open days where they are introduced to the public and potential new homes. It would also be used when available to collect donations for our shops.

The beneficiaries for these projects would ultimately be our rescued animals. However, the service that we provide does benefit the local community and would further go towards helping those on low incomes, those that have no transport or those that cannot drive. Money that can go towards feeding our animals for an entire year will help us save costs that will eventually go towards a bigger centre so we can take even more rescues into our care.

It is unfortunate when circumstances change for pet owners and their pets, but it does happen and when this is the case we want to be able to give those animals a better alternative to being abandoned, left as a stray or the dog warden which results in unnecessary euthanasia. We want to give the families some hope that we can help them with transport or assisting their loved pets and help to rehome them rather than having them put to sleep.

Moment of Pride

I am proud because we ensure that every animal we rescue gets our full help and we never put a healthy animal to sleep. It is a misconception that rescues take the 'easy route' when there isn't space, but our team move heaven & earth to care for each case, spending vital funds to save them all.
