Health and wellbeing

Funding level: £10,001 to £25,000

Our center has been providing an oasis of calm for the people of the city of Leeds for over 20 years. Since moving to the city centre, we created 30 minute sessions of breathing relaxation meditation, just long enough for people to fit in during their busy lunch hour.

We are currently providing two classes a week and would like to make this five classes a week. Anyone is welcome to attend the classes, those with meditation experience or none. We have trained facilitators who provide instruction and our social space is used for people to unwind before and after the classes.

Our centre is run entirely by donations - we don't charge for classes but we do suggest a donation if people would like to contribute. The costs of being the city centre are rising, and we are currently not making enough to cover our running costs.

With your support, we'll be able to continue to provide a calm and friendly space for our local community, and increase what is one of our most popular classes into 5 days a week.

This is what people say about us:

“Lovely and friendly people. Beautiful venue that was easy to find. I will be going back.”
Anna-Mariska Hemens

“When I first walked through the door, just a few years ago, I did not expect the centre to become such an important part of my life.” Rebecca Freer, Student Nurse

“Going through a very difficult period in my life...knew I need something different. Going into the centre this last weekend has changed my life.” Mike Southwell

“Jamyang have been a wonderful presence in Leeds for quite a few years now, running meditation classes and retreats or just providing a calm haven for those who need one (pretty much all of us).” David Lascelles, Earl of Harewood & Patron of Jamyang Leeds

Moment of Pride

We understand that in todays world there are many pressures causing people stress and what we are most proud of is that we welcome everyone and are famous for our friendly 'family feeling'. We aim to restore and heal and feel proud that they come back with fond memories of their time with us.
