Skills for life

Funding level: £1,001 to £5,000

When a young person first arrives at CHYP they receive one to one support to help them identify their support needs; be it help with literacy, numeracy, budgeting and life-skills. Life skills can include cooking, laundry, personal hygiene and self-care, inclusion in social and leisure activities. Many of the young people also have previously unidentified learning difficulties and some have mental health issues, which we help them to address.
CHYP is seeking a contribution towards this one to one work with new residents, to assess their individual needs, then to provide support, advice and counselling as appropriate. To develop a supportive and professional relationship with residents and helping them to identify future goals in terms of education, employment and future housing all working towards them being able to live independently.
