Funding level: £5,001 to £10,000

Canterbury rugby club offers many things. A thriving social life, the chance to make new and long lasting friendships and feeling part of a real community are just some of the pleasures as well as being part of a great game.

As East Kent's leading community club we pride ourselves on providing sport and fun for a wide range of people. From kids of Under 7 learning the joys of the game in our successful Junior teams, the Ladies sides and a successful Wheelchair Rugby section through to the many supporters who enjoy high quality National League mens rugby for eight months of the year as well as from four further senior mens teams.

We provide support to our local universities, providing training facilities and hosting the local Varsity matches. We also reach into the local and regional community, providing a community rugby coach offering training in both primary and secondary schools.

We would really like to replace and update our electronic score board which has been deemed irreparable. This would greatly enhance the existing facilities at the club, and would make a massive difference to the many spectators, the players & members of our club, visiting teams and not forgetting the match officials. An electronic scoreboard provides a focal point during a game for both players and spectators and encourages a sense of inclusiveness.

The continued expansion and inclusivity at the club make funding very difficult and, like most rugby clubs, we run on a tight budget. This means we do not have the funds for a lot of the niceties which would give us a more professional stance, help us to encourage further participation and promote increases in membership numbers and the desperately needed sponsorship that runs the club. An electronic scoreboard will provide an attractive location for sponsors and advertisers to have their say and potentially provide the club with much needed extra income.
