Health and wellbeing

Funding level: £10,001 to £25,000

Description

This project focuses on improving health & wellbeing of young people ages 18-25 in Stirling (initially). Our experience working with young people coupled with our strong links to local strength & conditioning professionals, sport venues, and local community councils, will help to make this project successful. The main beneficiaries are those young people who are hardest to reach, may be isolated and want help in acquiring a healthy mind and body lifestyle. They may not be in employment, education or training, and/or are experiencing barriers to life such as, inequality, health conditions, emotional or physical conditions.
Our Workshops are underpinned by the 5 elements of Emotional Intelligence; self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy & social skills. We see the programme as having a combination of Emotional and Physical Quotients, both a measure of self-awareness supported by cognitive behavioural restructuring and positive practices.

This 8-week programme meets for two hours, three times per week. Half the time is spent in the gym and/or in outdoor spaces and half the time is in the classroom engaging in self-awareness and confidence building activities, discussing goals and removing barriers to personal achievement. We will also offer healthy eating and lifestyle workshops. Our programme will help participants to understand their strengths and build their self-confidence through positive practices and mutual support. Our aim is to help each person achieve their goals whether that is employment, healthy lifestyle, college, training, or simply feel better about themselves by learning and sharing positive practices.
