Health and wellbeing

Funding level: £1,001 to £5,000

The Thursday Club, a place for the over ‘60s to meet in a social setting is the only facility in the Solihull Area that allows Jewish Senior Citizens to meet in an environment that caters for their cultural needs, in particular the requirements of a kosher diet which precludes many of them from attending other Day Centres in the area. Although the club operates under the umbrella of the Solihull Hebrew Congregation it is non-denominational and is operated at arms length from the other activities of the charity, with its own bank account and board of management. We welcome all comers to our activities.
We would like to concentrate on providing healthy, freshly cooked affordable meals for our users, many of whom live alone and make do with microwaved instant meals. We would like to employ a part time cook to assist in the preparation of these meals as well as to run a series of classes encouraging healthy eating and giving advice and practical tips on how to eat healthily without massive effort.
