Community support

Funding level: Up to £1,000

We are a small library with a big local impact! Entirely run by volunteers we offer a friendly library service to two villages (Narborough and Littlethorpe). Our volunteers run regular clubs for seniors to help combat loneliness (the ‘Hob Nob’ club), stories and song sessions for babies and toddlers (‘Little Bookworms’), and digital skills help for those struggling to use modern technology (‘Tea and Teach’).
Over 40 local people have volunteered as librarians so far and we also offer work volunteering opportunities to local secondary school children. It is wonderful to see how the community library has brought together people of all ages!
We run popular children’s crafting events and family history sessions. We have also recently hosted visits by the local primary school (over 90 children!) and Brownies group, with more trips planned. These were a great success with lots of enthusiasm from the children. All these activities help to create a lifelong love of reading.
We also hope to improve the library with new book shelving and a better range of books for all ages.
All of our activities and events require support for the materials and library costs. We hold regular community events to raise funds but this award would help us to sustain and improve our activities to benefit our whole community. Thank you for your support!
