Description

Feis na h-Apainne is an organisation which has been up and running since Autumn 2015. It is run by a small group of volunteers. The small village of Appin, in Argyll, and surrounding area has limited music tuition for those in our communities. Our Feis enables anyone wanting to play musical instruments such as guitar, music tech, accordion, fiddle, clarsach, whistle, chanter or take part in highland or step dance or shinty access to good tuition once a month with the provision of instrument included at minimal cost. The instruments can also be hired out in between each feis as a minimal cost. At each Feis children can pick 4 different instrument slots and take part in a 1/2 hour session for each - there is also allocation for games and snack. Our Feis introduces and uses Gaelic language. Gaelic is used by the tutors and encourages the children to learn some through play. It is a brilliant introduction to traditional Scottish music and arts, and allows children to explore various instruments. Our feis has a fun atmosphere and has received great feedback.
