Description

The clearing and excavation of the canal basin at the historic Wappenshall site at the junction of the Shrewsbury and Newport Canals. Clearing the basin would lead us a long way towards the rewatering of this section of the canals.
This a major part of the restoration of the full site, which includes 2 listed buildings one of which was built by Thomas Telford as was the Shrewsbury Canal.
The whole site when finished will provide:
A café and meeting rooms for public use, as well as all the health benefits linked with canals including Cycling, running, walking and fishing.
A much improved environment for the local wildlife.
A museum dedicated to Thomas Telford and the advancement of education in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics subjects which is much needed not only in Telford but in the country as a whole.
