Health and wellbeing

Funding level: £10,001 to £25,000

Description

The funding would be used to re-surface a part of the school playground which is currently unused due to its poor condition. The playground has been out of action for some time as the tarmac has deteriorated to such an extent that it is cracked and the top layer has been lost in places, causing trip hazards. With this funding a new purpose built surface can be put in place which will then allow the children of the school a bigger area of play and also, the opportunity to hold extra curricular activities and events. This would benefit the children of the school, 210 approximately, as outdoor play is an essential part of childhood development, helping with physical exercise, social interaction and the development of cognitive skills. Also the wider community, as more events could be opened up to them with the additional ground space this would offer. Burtonwood is a semi-rural village with limited access to other outdoor facilities, due to lack of public transport from the village. A number of disadvantaged families find it difficult to provide their children with access to outdoor areas, school being the only place some children can experience the enjoyment of “the great outdoors”. People should vote for this project to allow the children of Burtonwood CP School access to regular outdoor activities/lessons, which will expand their variety of education and develop specific skills they would not otherwise engage in.

Burtonwood Community Primary School PTFA

Location: Burtonwood and Westbrook, United Kingdom

This project will be something that our small PTFA group can be proud of for many years to come. Seeing the enjoyment of the children will reflect on the wider community and, as the school prospers, so will the community of Burtonwood.
