Funding level: Up to £1,000

Prom Nation is a local campaign to collect as many new and lightly used prom style dresses, shoes, accessories, boys suits and tuxedos. These items will then be available to teens across Norwich and Norfolk to wear at prom in confidence.

When teens graduate from high school, many celebrate that achievement by going to prom. But sadly not every teen who wants to go to prom can afford to dress for the occasion. That's why Prom Nation is determined to help teens across Norfolk to easily access and afford to dress for prom in style.

In 2014 a survey by Holiday Inn revealed the average cost of attending prom was £244 per person, with 1 in 10 spending more than £500 and 2% splashing out more than £1,500. This is a lot of money and pressure for any modern family to afford.

With the kind help, support and donations of dresses, shoes, accessories and suits from individuals and organisations across Norfolk we can all help make someone's prom night dream a reality.

Most of the dresses already donated to Prom Nation are brand new and would usually cost around £200+ but from as little as £5 teens can take an outfit away. This is a HUGE saving and not only that, 100% of the outfit sales are going directly to Break charity who regularly works with and supports young people in care and families in need of support.

Together Prom Nation and Break will be working with local schools and families by inviting a selection of teens to the ‘Pick an Outfit’ event on 12th April 2018 at Bar 11 in Norwich City centre. This event will help to change young lives – a brand value which Break and Prom Nation both firmly believe in.

The funding would be used to help make the pick an outfit event even more spectacular by allowing us to create some event invitations and in school posters to help promote the event. We could also ensure that all outfit sizes are covered and any pre-event dry cleaning of items donated is carried out. Goodie bags could also be created for teens attending the event. Funding could also allow Aviva to cover the cost and sponsor outfits for free for some lucky raffle prize winners.

This campaign is set to help over 100 teens dress for prom in 2018. We are looking for local hair dressers, barbers, beauticians, make up artists, florists, dry cleaners, car hire company's, sewing machine wiz's and individuals to help out and get involved in this exciting campaign.

If you are a business who could offer a special discount to teens we need to hear from you to! As a 'thank you' and to help keep the campaign going year after year we encourage teens to donate items back to the campaign in exchange for exclusive retail discounts and services.

Tracey the Founder of Prom Nation is already working on her next crusade, a corporate wear campaign to help dress teens looking to attend interviews and get into the world of work as well as kitting out young adults looking to return back into the workplace.
