Health and wellbeing

Funding level: £5,001 to £10,000

Description

We wish to provide toilet, wash and shower facilities for all scouting people with disabilities who require wheelchair access as well as other special needs and by so doing allow everyone to join the scouting adventures available at our District headquarters. Scouting is a co-educational and all inclusive exciting youth activity for 6 to 18 year olds as well as adult members. In Gloucester we own a building and land called Murray Hall which provides a focal point for all scouting within the City. Unfortunately the building does not currently have the required facilities for wheelchair bound people and we desperately need to correct this position. The major part of our plan is to convert a little used office room into a fully functional toilet, wash and shower facility with everything required to make scouting comfortable and fully accessible and inclusive to all. Current H&S regulations as well as all laid down building guide lines will be adhered to in this project. A great deal of self help by adults in scouting, in addition to the required professional contractors, will help to reduce the overall costs of the project.

Scout Association

Moment of Pride

Scouting for young people is massive and exciting and it offers wonderful opportunities to become involved. It is an all inclusive and co-educational world wide organisation. The project we are proposing will make inclusiveness, and comfort, for all in our scouting building even more realistic.
