Community support

Funding level: £5,001 to £10,000

We are an amateur football club from Birtley, County Durham with 15 Junior teams ranging from U6 to U18's as well as a Mens Senior and Ladies Senior side.

I am one of several volunteers who have worked tirelessly over the last 18-24 months on raising funds to improve the football club and its grounds for our local community to enjoy and be proud of.

We have given the whole place a coat of paint and finally finished our clubhouse which includes a kitchen and separate bar area. On the footballing side of things, we have named our clubhouse and stand after two former volunteers - who are sadly no longer with us - who gave their all in different ways to ensure our town has a football club at all.

Unfortunately, we have recently been targeted by thieves who not only decided to smash the windows of our clubhouse for a second time but this time also decided to steal all of the stock that was inside as well as make a big mess.

Our aim is to raise enough money to help us improve the security of the grounds so that this does not happen again and that we can continue what we started by giving our local community something to be proud of. We also need to replace the roof of the clubhouse so any spare money would be used towards achieving this.

Birtley Town Football Club

Moment of Pride

I am very proud of this club as its my local non-league team. I've been involved with football in the town for over 15 years and have gone from supporter to committee member.

Our volunteers do it for both the love of the game and the community itself and theres nothing more satisfying than a win
