Health, disability & well-being

Funding level: Up to £1,000

Description

NMC Midlands provides support for over 400 clients who suffer from muscular dystrophy, a muscle wasting disease with no treatment or cure. Muscular dystrophy restricts movement for sufferers, leaving them in wheelchairs, often unable to manage the most simple tasks. Our project will introduce a Chiropody service to help clients enjoy a better quality of life, having a service provided that they themselves are unable to undertake. The service would run alongside our current programme of condition-specific services, physiotherapy, osteopathy, reflexology, acupuncture and hydrotherapy. We receive no statutory funding for any of our services, hence we seek income from all sources to help grow our charity and raise awareness of our work

Moment of Pride

Muscular Dystrophy is a debilitating disease, causing muscle wastage, a lack of mobility, lack of sleep, depression and social exclusion. However, by bringing service users together, helping them improve their mobility via condition specific physio we have developed a unique feeling of family
