Environment in association with the Mirror

Funding level: £10,001 to £25,000

Description

Wickersley Community Centre currently houses 26 local community groups from the local community playgroup, dance and language classes to social groups for the elderly and disabled. The site also houses the local library. Thousands of people access the centre for many different reasons and the community centre has a positive impact on every walk of life in the community. The main costs for the community centre are the fuel costs. As these costs are continually rising the centre needs to look at options for sustainability as well as the environmental impact of the site. Through a combination of installing renewable energy options and finding ways to reduce consumption the project will give longevity to the community centre for the use of the local community for many years to come.
