Sport in the community

Funding level: Up to £1,000

Perth Strathtay Harriers are an athletics club based in Perth at the George Duncan stadium. We serve the whole of the Perth & Kinross area and are run entirely by volunteers. The club caters for children from primary school age to adult and runs sessions for athletes of all abilities. It is an affiliated member of Scottish Athletics that encourages our members to compete in competitions across the country.
The club has a growing membership, but due to the small number of coaches we currently have and lack of access to varied athletics equipment, the training we currently offer is limited to certain athletic disciplines. This means our athletes may be missing out on opportunities and events that they may have a raw talent and enthusiasm for, but do not get a chance to develop in.
Despite these limitations we have seen great develop and success from our athletes this season both at team and individual level. This has only been possible due to the dedication and commitment of our current athletes and coaches.
If our funding application is successful we plan to use the money to contribute towards the costs associated with providing training and qualifications for additional volunteer coaches and additional athletics equipment. This will allow us to grow the club further and provide as much opportunity as we can to our budding athletes.

Perth Strathtay Harriers

Moment of Pride

I have recently become part of the committee of the club as I want to put something back in to help. The commitment and dedication all the other volunteers give to the athletes including my children is an inspiration.
