Supporting the younger generation

Funding level: £5,001 to £10,000

Description

Smithy Street Primary School is Ofsted rated outstanding school in the inner city London Borough of Tower Hamlets. Our school has a proud history of offering a variety of after school clubs, such as karate, fencing, dance, creative club and poetry. Pupil Voice has found that children enjoy and achieve in their clubs.
Last academic year, the price of clubs was increased due budget constraints; this has meant that these enriching activities have become inaccessible to many of our families. As such, due to low numbers we are now looking at the viability of some of our clubs and possibly withdrawing provision.
We hope that through the support of Aviva’s Community Fund, we can offer all-inclusive after school clubs for the children free of charge. Our project will create opportunities for the younger generation to continue to access fun and enriching after school activities.
Clubs run from years 1 to 6. Priority is given to vulnerable children, SEN children and pupil premium eligible children. After school clubs have many benefits:
• they are fun
• they help boost children’s self-esteem and confidence
• they teach specific skills
• they can help children to keep healthy
• they can help children to make progress in a wide range of areas of learning
• they help children to develop and strengthen friendships and social skills
The funding granted by Aviva will mean our after-school club provision can be maintained and remain viable by fully funding all club running costs for one academic year.
Please support and vote for our project so our achievements in our after school clubs can continue!
