Sport in the community

Funding level: Up to £1,000

Glenrothes Tennis Club was formed in January 2012 to deliver tennis opportunities to the local community, many of whom live in deprived areas. We are now based at the 4 floodlit courts of a local high school, which while proving very expensive at least allows us to provide coaching for all ages and abilities, social play and the opportunity to enter leagues and tournaments. We would like to provide even more coaching next season so that we can reach more people but we also need to try to subsidise the coaching as many local people could find the costs prohibitive if the costs of court hire and payment to the tennis coach were covered solely by fees. If we could achieve an award of £1000 this would go a long way towards increasing the subsidy we could offer.

Moment of Pride

I am proud of this project because it is run solely by volunteers, who claim no expenses and go to great lengths to help the young people in this area improve their physical and mental health and well-being by participating in this wonderful sociable sport. It bolsters confidence, improving results.
