Community support

Funding level: Up to £1,000

Alwoodley Allotment Society are a non-profit group that runs a new four and a half (4.5) acre community allotment site on the outskirts of Leeds.

We have a mixture of traditional allotments plots, disabled plots and smaller plots that are often used by people that do not have access to a garden of their own.

There is huge checkerboard pattern of grass pathways between the plots and around the perimeter that need maintaining.

Because we have no electricity on site and many of our members are pensioners who struggle with distance that needs mowing, a ride-on lawnmower would be a huge benefit to our facility.

Maintaining the grass is important as we have members with mobility problems who struggle with tall grass, and the three to four (3-4) metre wide strip around the edge of the site is there for emergency vehicle access if it is needed.

Moment of Pride

We are a new nonprofit society providing allotment gardens to varied members of the local community, many who do not have gardens of their own. As a requirement of our operation we need to keep communal grassed areas neatly cut for emergency vehicle access at all times.
