The home changing room (adapted portakabin) needs replacing due to its age and the new portakabin has separate areas for men/ boys and women/ girls, and a disabled access.
Which enables us to continue to develop the youth teams both male and female as well as enabling to continue to develop our existing work with disabled people.
As new the portakabin meets ECB requirements it attracts a grant of 50% of the cost. The total cost is £31,620 (including delivery and VAT). We would appreciate you consider giving a donation to enable the club to complete this project by the end of the year.
Cricket has been played at the Pembroke Dock ground on Imble Lane for the last forty eight years. Pembroke Dock Cricket Club’s management committee are very experienced; all the coaches are committee members, the treasurer is also the groundsman.
The club has eighty seven members comprising of players and non players, ranging from 8 to 84 year olds. The coaching team (all qualified and CRB) organise an Open Day and Sports Day each year to allow boys and girls to try cricket, and other sports such as athletics, golf and hockey. The aim is to encourage children to play sport.
Both these days have proved to be invaluable in attracting a mix of boys and girls into cricket; from which an Under 9, an Under 12 and Under 15 teams will be formed.
One of the juniors is recovering from a serious illness; his mother says the cricket has made an enormous difference to her son. The boy has contributed greatly to the club, he is the twelfth man; he helps at each match by taking out drinks and collecting “fines”
Two juniors were constantly being a nuisance in the local town. Two teachers who play for the club were aware of the situation; they encouraged the juniors to come along to a coaching session. The juniors like the club’s environment and have made new friends.
ECB Clubmark Accreditation confirms that the club operates to a key set of core criteria and has good practices in place to ensure that we deliver high quality community cricket in an environment that is safe, effective and child-friendly. All coaching sessions are free.
One aspect of the accreditation has been to build partnerships with local schools and an agreement with Cricket Wales been signed. The club has made one club member available to assist with coaching.
The management committee is optimistic about the future of cricket at the club as a result of the numbers attending coaching sessions, and importantly the potential of four or five juniors to play for the County at junior level.
