Description

Ridgeway Breast Care Support Group is a totally self-funding group that supports both NHS and private breast cancer patients and their families and was established in 2010 as no such group existed in the Wiltshire area. Whilst some of their funds have bought equipment for local hospitals, their greatest contribution to the support of breast cancer patients is the programme of events they run - all of which are free to the patients. Their biggest event of the year is their Consultants' Evening, which brings together all of the consultants at the local hospitals who deal with breast cancer - surgeons, oncologists, radiographers, etc. - in one place to talk, advise and answer questions. This event is quite unique and a great help and support to cancer patients in this area.

The Support Group have now also been able to include in our events calendar a number of Pamper Days offering a variety of complimentary therapy taster treatments, including Aromatherapy, Reiki, Acupuncture, Facials and Manicures to all who have received a diagnosis of breast cancer, giving a much needed pick-me-up.

Moment of Pride

Sadly, breast cancer touches so many lives. I admire the volunteers, most of whom have themselves had a breast cancer diagnosis, who give so freely of their time and energy to provide emotional and practical support to others.
