Health, disability & well-being

Funding level: £5,001 to £10,000

Description

We have called our project Heat & Eat as we have found many people in our community have to choose between eating nourishing food and keeping warm. We have access to these people and will encourage then to come into our club, keep warm and enjoy afternoons in social comfort, thus improving the quality of life to those who are lonely or struggling to cope.

Our current kitchen is too small and cannot be used to serve meals from, we have funding to start the kitchen extension and hope the builders will be able to start within the next 4-6 months. However we need money to replace the carpet and flooring in the room where we hope to be able to serve the meals/offer activities from in a safe and comforting enviroment.

We want to be able to offer a hot meal and activities to a cross section of the community so they can interact with people of all ages and backgrounds and give them a reason to come out of the house. People should not have to choose between eating a hot nourishing meal and putting the heating on.

Over the last few years we have been able to provide easy acces for the disabled and people with mobility difficulties. We provide baby changing facilities to accommodate families. We also provide facilities for all age groups to include Theatre Workshop rehearsals, kick boxing, flower arranging club, allotment association, referees association, pigeon club, football, pool and darts teams. We also have social activities 2 afternoons a week.
