The project was set up in 2004 with a view to providing a safe, accessible area for young and old along with those who have special needs. A local waste ground was chosen and transformed into the Newmarket play area and riverside gardens. The purpose of this new are was the advancement of health,The advancement of citizenship or community development,The provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended,The advancement of environmental protection or improvement
Beneficiaries: Children / young people,Older people,People with disabilities or health problems,People of a particular ethnic or racial origin,No specific group, or for the benefit of the community.
It is an evolving project, which needs constant maintenance and new ideas to keep it relevant with our ever changing needs, but at its core is always the bringing together of our community.

This is an excellent example of how a enthusiastic people with goodwill, energy and a passion for their community can make a huge difference in the amenities and the quality of life of young people, whilst involving the extended families. All by unpaid volunteers of all ages working together.
