Supporting the younger generation

Funding level: Up to £1,000

We are a local Under 10 years old Football Squad of 16 players split between two teams, who have been playing together for the past 3 seasons, with some training together since they were 5 years old! Not unsuccessfully I may add, as the boys have really forged a wonderful connection and therefore rarely lose a game. The boys come from over 7 different primary schools in Ipswich but connect together to form a unique bond which crosses the divide of school.

We try to constantly fundraise via a small group of parents who run the ‘home stall’ during all home matches, selling tea, coffee and homemade cakes, which go towards paying for additional items of training equipment for the boys. This also goes towards treating them to a Christmas game of bowling for the whole squad.

However we are now faced with the monument task of providing a new kits for the ever increasing 10 year olds, (as you can imagine how tight the current kit is getting) including the supply of larger goals for the next season when we merge into one team for Under 11's.

Whilst we would like to ask parents to contribute financially, we have a majority of children who play for us who simply wouldn’t be able to afford to buy any part of the kit or contribute towards the goals, and therefore we run the risk that they could be forced into not playing/training.

Previously, we have managed to obtain a Sponsor to go towards some of the costs, which I am pursuing again, but as a parent of a child who plays with the team and seeing what some of the young boys turn up to training in, I would really like to try to purchase additional kit to provide much needed warmth during the cold and wet winter months.

I know you are probably inundated with requests for help from very worthwhile causes, and I hope our cause is not considered too undeserving, as this team/group of friends/community really would benefit from any assistance you would kindly be able to offer. If only to keep some young boys playing the ‘beautiful game’, promoting exercise and camaraderie without the worry of future cost to already struggling families.

Many many thanks.

Moment of Pride

The boys passion, team ethics and commitment is second to none. Both the A and B teams, called United and City respectively, have also reached the Cup & Plate finals this year to be played on 9th May.
