Description

Please vote to save lives in Hatton Park, Warwickshire. Hatton Park is a development of approx 750 families and is situated near the town of Warwick. Hatton Park may be unique as it does not have a defibrillator within the boundary of the development.

100,000 people a year die from Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). It is the UK’s biggest killer, killing both adults and children. By making defibrillators accessible to the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, this figure can be reduced. Defibrillation within the first 3 minutes of an SCA can increase a patient’s chance of survival by upwards of 80%.

The Hatton Park WI (Women's Institute) wants to improve the life chances of all local residents by providing a defibrillator for Hatton Park. The cost of a defibrillator and box to be sited on an outside wall is approx. £2000.

We are asking our local community to vote for this project for £1000 funding from the Aviva Community. With this grant from Aviva Community Fund we will be able to complete installation of the defibrillator within 6months, much sooner than we had hoped. We are publicising and fund raising for this project in the community with activities and events to raise the balance.

Provision of a defibrillator on Hatton Park will improve the life and recovery chances of any of in the locality should they suffer a cardiac arrest. The plan is to site the defibrillator at the centre of the estate, so everyone can access it quickly when required. Once the defibrillator is in place, we will work with local ‘First responders’ who promote and provide CPR and defibrillator training to enable residents to have the confidence to support when a sudden cardiac arrest emergency arises.
