Funding level: Up to £1,000

Our club has been at the heart of the local community in Bishopbriggs, Glasgow since 1980. Many of the current group of under 9s have been playing together since they met in the academy when they were just 5 years old. We have come a long way since we had less than 20 boys in a high school gymnasium to now having 40 boys training outdoors who have so much fun that they don’t even notice the Scottish weather!

All of our coaches are parents of boys in this age group and volunteer their time readily & freely to give them all the chance to progress their skills. We have also given opportunities to some children from the local high school to gain coaching certificates and help train the boys. We play 5-a-sides on Saturdays and Sundays so that all of the boys have a chance to play competitively before we start 7-a-sides in 2018.

As a result of our growth we are in need of additional training clothing, footballs and outdoor equipment to maximise the impact of our training sessions. Our parents have been very supportive in the past through fund raising raffles. However with the increased costs of grassroots football we are trying to maximise all possible sources of funding to help the boys to not only reach their potential on the park, but develop their social skills and build resiliency that helps them outside of football.

“We signed Caiden up to West Park as he started to show an interest in football. Being one of the only boys in the squad who wasn't from the surrounding schools meant he didn't have any friends there. This didn't matter. The boys and coaches at West Park made him feel more than welcome and he fitted in easily. He has been in the team for over two years now and still gets excited going to training!! The skills and passion he has developed from being at the club is amazing.” Michelle Wright (Aviva employee!)

"The 2009 teams have improved greatly in the last 12 months, thanks mainly to the dedicated coaching setup and also the boys enthusiasm. The turnout is consistently high and its great to see their teamwork, bonding and skills get better each month. Stepping up to 7 a side games early next year will be a great incentive for my son and the other boys to focus on a dedicated playing position." Paul Meehan
